Trophy mule deer hunting, elk hunting, Colorado guided fly-fishing trips, overnight Montana-style expedition pack trips, and guided horseback rides are the specialties of OutWest Guides, Marble, Colorado. Situated in scenic Marble, Colorado, OutWest Guides is only an hour from Aspen, 45 minutes from Glenwood Springs, a short half hour from Carbondale, and just minutes from Redstone. We outfit in Game Management Unit 43, in the Maroon Bells/Snowmass and Raggeds Wilderness areas.

Colorado horseback riding

Our menu of options includes one-hour horseback rides for families with small children, two-hour horseback rides, 5-hour horseback riding into our gorgeous wilderness, and multi-day Montana-style wilderness horse pack trips. Our horses are gentle and steady for beginning riders, but experienced riders will love our well-trained, spirited trail horses, including Missouri foxtrotters, Tennessee Walkers, Quarter Horses, Arabians, and Paints. Colorado horseback riding with OutWest Guides is a treat—the views are spectacular, and we often see a wide variety of wildlife—mule deer, rocky mountain elk, big horn sheep, mountain goat, blue grouse, fox, and every now and then, bears.

Guided elk hunts and trophy mule deer hunts

Our wilderness horseback elk and mule deer hunts are an adventure that the serious big game hunter will treasure forever. Our Colorado elk hunting guides are serious hunters who love to find bugling bull elk and trophy mule deer. Our hunting camps are set up “tight and right”, the food is hearty, and our wilderness hunting terrain is breathtaking. We specialize in guiding high-country mule deer hunts for trophy mule deer.

Blue grouse and white-tailed ptarmigan hunts

OutWest Guides offers a unique opportunity for the serious upland bird hunter. Few hunters have harvested all the North American species of grouse—sharp-tailed grouse, greater and lesser prairie chicken, ruffed grouse, spruce grouse, three species of ptarmigan, and blue grouse. According to many knowledgeable shooters, blue grouse and ptarmigan are the most difficult birds to harvest of all the North American grouse species. Wilderness outfitter Nate May is known for helping serious upland bird hunters add blue grouse and white-tailed ptarmigan to the list. We are proud to have had one our bird guides profiled in the March/April 2006 issue of Shooting Sportsman magazine, OutWest Guides offers a challenging horseback wilderness hunt for blue grouse and ptarmigan offered by no other Colorado outfitter. Dates are very limited on this exclusive wild bird hunt.

A guided Colorado fly-fishing trip with OutWest Guides is an adventure to be enjoyed by the whole family. Outfitter Nate May has been a Colorado fly-fishing guide for over 10 years, and is known for his patient flyfishing instruction and valuable fly-fishing tips. OutWest Guides has over 2 miles of private access on the Crystal River, offering exclusive flyfishing for rainbow trout, German brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout. Our overnight wilderness pack trips to high mountain lakes and streams are a treat every angler needs to experience, with camp tucked in under the maroon bells and the upper crystal river flowing by with phenomenal flyfishing.

The Beaver Lake Lodge is available for families, couples, and groups, and it’s dog friendly! The lodge was once East Marble's school house, built in the late 1800s. Over the years it has been added onto and transformed into the town's meeting hall, a bait and tackle shop, a restaurant, and since the mid 1950s, a lodge. The rooms in the lodge have been newly renovated. In contrast to the more rustic cabins, the lodge rooms have a Country Inn appeal: antiques, down comforters, matelasse coverlets, vintage-style wallpaper and poster beds. The lodge rooms are equipped with full baths and kitchenettes (one having a full kitchen), and each lodge room is accessed from an outside lodge porch. Bring your family, bring the dog, bring the groceries, and enjoy your stay!
